A working group to study the situation with uncultivated agricultural  lands will be set up in Armenia

ArmInfo.A working group will be formed in Armenia to study the situation with uncultivated agricultural lands. This was stated on February 11 at the meeting of  the Standing Committee of the National Assembly of Armenia on  Territorial Administration, Local Government, Agriculture and Nature  Protection, by  the head of the Committee Varazdat Karapetyan.

According to him, the group will consist of 9 members, of which 3  from the parliamentary committee, 2 each from the Ministry of  Agriculture, Agrarian University and the Food and Agriculture  Organization of the United Nations (FAO). In fact, as the head of the  Committee noted, this is about solving the problem of 200 thousand  hectares of land, which is about 45% in the total agricultural  balance of the country. The group intends to solve the problem,  including by amending and supplementing the land tax and the Land  Code.

Earlier, RA Deputy Minister of Agriculture Garnik Petrosyan told  ArmInfo that 90% of all uncultivated agricultural land was  privatized. The government of the country, adhering to the  constitutional right of citizens to property, nevertheless, intends  to solve the problem by legislative initiatives.  According to  analysts of ArmInfo, toughening the land tax will force land owners  to "remember" about their property.
