ArmInfo. Electricity generation in January-February 2019 in Armenia amounted to 1 186.7 million kWh, with y-o-y decline of 2.1%, against a growth of 3.5% a year earlier. In February alone, a decline of 6.1% to 574.6 million kWh was recorded.
According to the RA Statistics Committee, in January-February 2019 against the same period of 2018 TPPs reduced electricity generation by 51.3% - to 343.2 million kWh. At the same time, hydropower plants, on the contrary, increased electricity generation by 8.5% - to 287.5 million kWh. Armenian NPP increased electricity generation by 4.1% - up to 553.7 million kWh. During the reporting period, 7.6 thousand gigadjoules of thermal energy were produced, with aa y-o-y decline of 36.7%. During the reporting period, wind power plants produced 0.9 million kWh of electricity with a y-o-y growth 1.8-fold, solar stations - 1.4 million kWh. with a 2.8-fold increase.
To note, in 2018 electricity generation in Armenia amounted to 7,776.9 million kWh, with a y-o-y growth of 0.2%. TPPs increased electricity generation by 17.5%, hydropower plants - by 2.2%, Armenian NPP - by 10%. Wind power plants reduced electricity generation by 9.5%, solar power stations, on the contrary, increased 12.8-fold.
