ArmInfo.The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) forecasts 4.5% GDP growth in Armenia in 2019, while maintaining this pace in 2020. This is noted in the May report of the EBRD "Regional Economic Perspectives".
In the neighboring countries of Armenia, in particular, in Georgia, the EBRD expects similar GDP growth in 2019 and 2020 - by 4.5%; in Azerbaijan, GDP growth is projected at 3.5% in 2019, with acceleration in 2020 up to 3.8%. In Turkey, according to EBRD analysts, GDP is expected to decline by 1% in 2019, with a 2.5% increase in 2020.
In the same report, it is indicated that the growth of Russia's GDP in 2019 will be 1.5%, with some accelerating in 2020 to 1.8%. In general, for the region of Eastern Europe and the Caucasus, the EBRD for 2019 forecasts GDP growth by 2.8%, with acceleration in 2020 to 3%. Moreover, the lowest GDP growth rates in this region are expected by the EBRD in Ukraine - 2.5% in 2019 with acceleration up to 3% in 2020 and Belarus - 2% in 2019 with a slowdown to 1.8% in 2020.
For the Central Asian region, the Bank forecasts economic growth in 2019 by 4.4%, followed by a slowdown in 2020 to 4.2%. Thus, according to the forecast, GDP growth in Kazakhstan in 2019 will be 3.5%, and in 2020 - 3.2%. In Kyrgyzstan, according to EBRD experts, in 2019 and 2020, the same GDP growth is expected - by 3.6%.
