ArmInfo.The issue of increasing export of Turkmen oil and gas products to Armenia was discussed in detail in Ashgabat at a meeting of the Minister of Finance and Economy of Turkmenistan Batyr Bazarov with the delegation of the Republic of Armenia, which included Deputy Minister of Economy Avag Avanesyan and Deputy Minister of High-Tech Industry Gegham Vardanyan.
According to the ORIENT publication, citing the Ministry of Finance of Turkmenistan, at the meeting, the parties discussed in detail the expansion of trade and economic cooperation between Turkmenistan and Armenia by increasing export-import operations and enhancing partnerships in various sectors of the economy.
The Turkmen side took the initiative to establish Trading houses in the territories of both states. This practice has proven to be effective in expanding the assortment and list of goods delivered to the partner country. And as reported by the Turkmen Ministry of Finance, the delegation of Armenia showed a certain interest in this proposal. "During the meeting, they discussed in detail the issues of increasing the export of Turkmen oil and gas, textile and agricultural products to Armenia, as well as the prospects for expanding the supply to Turkmenistan of various goods from Armenia, including jewelry, brandy, etc. Special attention during the negotiations was paid to interaction in the field of digitalization of the financial and banking sector of Turkmenistan, given the certain experience of Armenian specialists in this direction, which has found application in a number of states, including Australia, the Russian Federation, Iran and other countries ", the publication's report reads.
It is emphasized that the parties agreed to consider the proposals that were voiced during the meeting and, if confirmed, to prepare the relevant project documents.
As ArmInfo previously reported, the visit of the Armenian delegation to Turkmenistan took place on August 26-27.
It should be noted that, according to the RA Statistical Committee, the volume of foreign trade turnover between Armenia and Turkmenistan in 2018 amounted to $ 30.6 million with a y-o-y growth of 88%. At the same time, exports amounted to $ 3.1 with a y-o-y decline by 48.8%, imports - $ 27.5 million, with an increase of 2.7-fold.
