ArmInfo. Bulgaria is interested in interregional cooperation with the Aragatsotn region. This was stated by the Regional Governor of the Bulgarian city of Stara Zagora Gergana Mikova during a meeting with the Deputy Minister of Territorial Administration and Infrastructures of Armenia Vache Terteryan.
According to the press service of the ministry, during the meeting the parties discussed issues related to cooperation opportunities. The establishment of close ties in the fields of agriculture, in particular, in winemaking, transport infrastructure, and tourism, was recognized as promising. Vache Terteryan attached importance to cooperation with Bulgaria at both the state and interregional levels, stressing that the historical and cultural ties between the two peoples are also the basis for this. He expressed hope that the visit would be the start for further fruitful cooperation, and assured that the Ministry, in turn, would make every effort to make it a successful example of inter-regional cooperation.
According to the report, inter-regional and decentralized cooperation between the Republic of Armenia and Bulgaria began in 2004, currently Yerevan-Sofia, Gyumri-Plovdiv, Hrazdan-Silistra, Echmiadzin-Veliko Tarnovo, as well as Shirak and Plovdiv regions, are cooperating. It should be noted that according to the RA Statcommittee, the foreign trade turnover between Armenia and Bulgaria in January-September 2019 amounted to $ 186.1 million, which is 9.1% lower than a year ago. In particular, exports decreased by 7.2% to $ 163.7 million, while imports fell by 21.1% to $ 22.4 million.
