ArmInfo. According to the results of 9 months of 2019, a 14.4% increase in the flow of tourists was registered in Armenia, which was largely ensured by tourist visits from countries where the average growth of tourists was fixed at 30-40%. The Minister of Economy of the Republic of Armenia Tigran Khachatryan announced this at a press conference on January 14.
In this vein, he drew attention to the fact that similar high growth rates were recorded mainly from the EU countries, including Germany (an increase of 45%), France (21%), the Netherlands (23%), etc. <This indicates the effectiveness of marketing tools used by the Committee on Tourism of Armenia>, the official said.
He recalled that during 2019, in order to increase the awareness of Armenia, the Committee invited over 50 journalists and bloggers from countries that represent target markets, in particular Russia, Germany, Italy, Poland, Israel, Switzerland, and the United States. As a result of such visits, over 5 million views of videos about Armenia and over 50 publications were provided. <This allows us to think that in 2020 the growth in the influx of tourists to Armenia will not be inferior to the indicators recorded over the past year>,- said Khachatryan.
The Minister also emphasized that the development of tourism favorably affects the dynamics of the areas related to tourism. Thus, according to the forecast of the department, in 2019 Armenia will register a 15% increase in tourists, and the revenue of the public catering sector and accommodation will increase by 30%.
To recall, in the first 9 months of this year, the country was visited by 1.046 million people, a significant proportion of whom are citizens of the Russian Federation - 646 thousand people (an increase of 23.1%). The number of visits by US citizens increased by 18.5%, by 29% by citizens of Lebanon, by 21% by citizens of France, by 30-40% by citizens of Sweden, Switzerland and Greece, and by 23% by citizens of the Netherlands. The increase in the number of visits by South Korean citizens is fixed at 37.6%, China - 42.1% and Japan - 18.5%. The Government of Armenia will allocate 6.3 billion drams for the development of the field in 2020.
