ArmInfo. The Union of Banks of Armenia (UBA) summed up the results of the previously announced competition "Best Financial and Banking Publication of the Year", in which the selection was carried out from 50 submitted materials.
The winners were determined in 4 main categories - <Best Analytics>, <Best Report>, <Best Radio Broadcast> and <Unique Analytics> - by a professional jury, which included experts and specialists from the field.
In the nomination "Best Analytics", the winner was the financial analyst of ArmInfo Information Company Karina Melikyan. The <Best Reporting> nominations were awarded to the journalist of banksnews.am website Eduard Manukyan. Hasmik Dilanyan, journalist of the Public Radio, won the nomination "Best Radio Broadcast". And the winner in the "Unique Analytics" nomination was 168.am journalist Vasak Tarposhyan. The winners of these nominations were awarded with diplomas and cash prizes.
Stressing the importance of initiatives aimed at improving financial literacy among the public, UBA Chairman Mher Abrahamyan emphasized the role of the journalistic community in this matter. <Your role is really important, both in terms of developing the financial and banking system, and in terms of identifying problems in the field. Therefore, we hope that the number of professionally substantiated and objective publications and analytical articles in our press will increase>, M. Abrahamyan stated. Such a competition was held in Armenia for the first time, but in the future it will be of a continuous nature, he noted.
In turn, UBA Executive Director Seyran Sargsyan noted that the contest is held to identify trends and problems in the development of the financial and banking system, their professional commenting and accessible presentation to the public. <Considering the fact that more than 80% of our able-bodied population have accounts in commercial banks, it can be assumed that aspects of the development of the financial system should be of interest to the general public>, he remarked. It should be noted that the jury evaluated the works presented in the competition program, focusing on compliance with the competition topics, objective and comprehensive professional analysis.
