ArmInfo.Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan believes Armenia needs its own airline. The head of government said this on January 25 during a press conference.
According to Pashinyan, it is necessary to find out how to ensure the operation of the national airline so that the company does not go bankrupt in the future, as has already happened more than once in recent years. "What should we do? Invest in an airline that will go broke in 3 years? This is not an option. We need to improve the economic situation in the country. Every year, the number of tourists in our country is increasing, and this will contribute to the emergence of investors who agree to invest in opening an airline in Armenia, "the Prime Minister emphasized.
He noted that the government is ready to assist if someone decides to become a national air carrier. "But this does not mean that this person should come to us every year and say that if we don't allocate money to them, the airline will close," Pashinyan said.
Nikol Pashinyan gave an example of the same Ranair as an example of a successful airline from Ireland. "We want the country to have an airline that is competitive in the aviation market. There are proposals, but it all comes down to the fact that the state is able to finance these projects. The airline itself must do everything to become competitive, "the prime minister concluded.
