ArmInfo. In Armenia, salaries of employees of penal correctional institutions will increase by 30%. This decision was made at a meeting of the RA Government on January 30.
As RA Minister of Justice Rustam Badasyan noted in his speech, currently there are about 170 vacant posts in the country's penal institutions, mainly of the junior level - the most dangerous, prone to risks and corruption in the fight against criminal subculture. Wage growth will make it possible to attract qualified personnel into the system of the correctional institution with improved working conditions. In total, 1.508 billion drams are planned to be allocated for the implementation of the program. Currently, the junior staff of the correctional institution receives an average of 150 thousand drams, including bonus ones. The head of the penitentiary institution with 30 years of experience receives only 415 thousand drams, along with bonus ones. The Minister also noted a shortage of personnel of psychologists and psychotherapists. RA Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan recalled that amendments to the Criminal Code have recently been adopted, according to which a fight against criminal authorities will be launched in Armenia. Their application will allow law enforcement agencies to expand their activities with renewed vigor. A 30% wage increase should be part of this fight. An equally important component, the head of government continued, is the organization of an effective food system in the penal institutions of the republic. -sh-
