Nominal wages increased weightier as a result of higher wages of  public employees in Armenia in 2019

ArmInfo. Nominal wages in Armenia accelerated growth rates - up to 5.8% in January-December 2019 from 3.8% in January-December 2018, amounting to 182750 drams ($  380). In December alone, nominal wages increased by 26.4%, against a  23.4% increase in December 2018.  In December 2019, as compared to  December 2018, the nominal wage increased by 5.4%, against a growth  of 2% in December 2018 compared to December 2017.

According to preliminary data of the Statistical Committee of the  Republic of Armenia, salaries in the public sector are in  January-December 2019 amounted to 161789 drams ($ 337), with the  acceleration of y- o-y growth from 1.6% to 8.4%. And for salaries in  the private sector, which amounted to 193288 drams ($ 402), there was  a slight slowdown in y-o-y growth rates - up to 3.8% from the  previous 4%. In December 2019 alone, wages in the public sector  increased by 41.8%, and in the private sector - by 20.1%, which, in  comparison with the upward dynamics of a year ago, indicates  increased salaries in the public sector, which cannot be said about  the private sector. Prior to this, in December 2018, almost the same  growth was observed of 22.7% in the public sector and 23.7% in the  private sector.

The average settlement rate of dram in December 2019 was 478.24 dr /  $ 1, and in January-December 2019 - 480.45 dr / $ 1, against 484.67  dr / $ 1 in December 2018 and 482.99 dr / $ 1 - in January December  2018
