ArmInfo.Armenian Deputy Prime Minister Tigran Avinyan received today a delegation of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) led by Vice President of the Bank Pierre Heilbronn.
According to the press service of the government, the interlocutors expressed satisfaction with the fact that it was decided to hold the annual meeting of the EBRD in 2021 in Yerevan. They emphasized the importance of this event in terms of attracting the attention of international financial and economic circles to Armenia.
Tigran Avinyan thanked the EBRD for its trust and assured the interlocutor that the annual meeting will be organized at a high level.
During the meeting, a number of issues were discussed regarding effective cooperation between Armenia and the EBRD, which includes investment packages totaling more than 1.4 billion euros and 180 various projects.
The EBRD Vice President noted that the cooperation during the last year can be called very successful, as projects worth 118 million EUR were implemented. He expressed hope that this trend will continue in 2020. Tigran Avinyan emphasized that the share of the private sector in the total portfolio of the EBRD is 87%, which is a serious incentive for the development of the sector.
During the meeting, the parties touched upon the Bank's participation in the program for the development of the transport infrastructure of Yerevan. In this context, Pierre Heilbronn emphasized the important role of the Deputy Prime Minister in coordinating the activities of various departments and the Municipality of Yerevan for its successful implementation. The interlocutors also touched upon the comprehensive reforms being carried out in Armenia. Tigran Avinyan introduced the process of transformation of the public administration system, noting that it will be one of the most ambitious and large-scale reforms in the country.
