ArmInfo. In connection with the application of new rates and weight of goods for duty-free import from non-EAEU countries from January 1, 2020, the government at a meeting on February 13 decided to invalidate the decision of the Cabinet of 30 July 2015.
According to the chairman of the State Revenue Committee of the Republic of Armenia David Ananyan, after a decision was made on July 30, 2015, another resolution number 107 was adopted in the republic, which fully complies with the requirements of the Eurasian Economic Union. Now, only decision No. 107 will be applied in the country. David Ananyan recalled that from January 1, 2020, the maximum cost and weight of goods for duty-free import from non-EAEU countries has been reduced in Armenia. So, the weight of personal baggage that is not subject to VAT at the border is reduced from 50 kg to 25 kg. Rates for individual items of marketable products are also established. So, meat and meat products, the weight of which is reduced from 30 kg to 25 kg, are not subject to taxation. Similar rates will apply to milk and dairy products, products of animal origin. And allowed for import on a duty-free basis, coffee volumes from 15 kg will be reduced to 10 kg. In addition, from January 1, 2020, the norms of duty-free import of goods for personal use, sent in international mail, as well as delivered by a carrier to one individual, will be 31 kg and 150 thousand drams instead of 200 euros and 30 kg.
David Ananyan also noted that in order to strengthen the fight against smuggled cargo at the border, monitoring will be carried out on the frequency of border crossing by individual citizens. The point is, as the head of the State Customs Committee emphasized, a situation is often observed in the customs territory when a 10-ton truck is unloaded and the cargo is delivered in parts by individuals to the country. Monitoring will eliminate this kind of phenomenon.
