ArmInfo. The decrease in prices for chicken eggs is connected with overproduction in the market. Chairman of the State Commission for the Protection of Economic Competition of the Republic of Armenia Gegham Gevorgyan announced this at a meeting of the RA Government on February 13.
According to him, today chicken eggs are sold at a price of 20-22 drams, which is lower than their cost. Opinions were previously voiced that the price reduction was due to the import of large quantities of eggs from abroad, but Gevorgyan assured that they were not imported to Armenia. In reality, in the republic there is an overproduction of eggs by domestic companies, as a result of which there is a decline in prices. Meanwhile, the Commission intends to carefully study this issue in order to understand whether expired products are being sold, and whether there is an attempt by large manufacturers to push their "smaller" competitors out of the market. "It is important to understand the reason in order to know about our future actions," the head of SCPEC said.
He also announced the start of production in the ratio of sugar products, where sales at a price lower than the market are also observed. As Gevorgyan noted, the Commission will examine whether there are abuses or price collusion on the sugar market.
Gevorgyan informed that since yesterday research has begun on the market of flour, mining products and advertising (including online advertising).
