ArmInfo. The RA Prosecutor General's Office presented indicators on the disclosure of economic crimes and the identification of damage caused to the state in 2019.
According to the department, in 2019, 931 criminal cases were opened on the facts of crimes against economic activity, which is 37% more than in 2018. In addition, another 269 criminal cases were accepted. In total, in 2019, 1,200 criminal cases were investigated for the above crimes, as a result of which only part of the criminal cases of an economic nature, the workload of the preliminary investigation bodies and the Prosecutor's Office increased by 40% compared to the previous year. At the same time, in 2019, compared with 2018, the indicator of criminal cases in which the investigation was completed increased by 8.5%. Last year, the revealed damage to the state in criminal cases related to economic crimes amounted to 21.1 billion drams of which 9.5 billion drams were restored. For comparison: in 2018, the disclosed damage caused to the state by these crimes amounted to 19.4 billion drams (or 8.8% less), of which 8.6 billion drams were restored (or 10.5% less).
In order to restore damage to the state, in 2019, during the investigation in various criminal cases, arrests were imposed on property and money of the accused in the amount of 2.6 billion drams. In addition, in order to repair the damage caused to the state in the investigated and completed criminal cases, the prosecutor's departments filed a lawsuit in court with a request to recover about 160 million drams from the state budget, which were subsequently granted. on grounds of non-payment of taxes, duties or other obligatory payments, 382 cases were considered in proceeding, which is 188 (or 33%) less than in 2018. This was facilitated, in particular, by amendments to tax legislation, as a result of which certain types of taxes were eliminated.
