ArmInfo. On February 25, Deputy Prime Minister Mher Grigoryan received a delegation led by Regional Vice President of the International Finance Corporation (IFC) Georgina Baker.
According to the press service of the government, welcoming the guests, the Deputy Prime Minister noted that he appreciates and attaches great importance to cooperation with IFC and the role of the structure in the development of the private sector in Armenia. According to Grigoryan, the International Finance Corporation implants a culture that is in line with industry strategies developed by the RA government. The Deputy Prime Minister emphasized that cooperation with the International Finance Corporation enhances business transparency and allows it to properly develop the basic principles of entrepreneurship. Georgina Baker thanked the Deputy Prime Minister for the reception and noted that this is her first visit to Armenia as the IFC Regional Vice President, during which she personally familiarized herself with the current state of the Armenian economy in order to understand the possible participation of the structure in the planned government reforms. Baker congratulated the Armenian government on the significant economic growth in the country and expressed satisfaction with the achievements, in particular, in the tourism sector.
At the guest's request, the Deputy Prime Minister outlined the main areas in which there are wide opportunities for cooperation with IFC. Mher Grigoryan highlighted the development of the capital market, private sector projects, alternative energy, public-private partnerships, the development of small and medium-sized businesses and the high-tech sector.
The interlocutors mutually confirmed the huge potential for the development of Armenian startups, as well as the implementation of possible projects in various fields and the prospects for IFC to participate in them.
