ArmInfo. Peaceful relations between the state and the rest of the world have a significant and important role in the development of the economy. This year, the thirteenth edition of the Global Peace Index was released, in which 163 independent states were ranked according to their degree of peacefulness.
For 2019, Iceland remains the most peaceful and safe country. After it, at the top of the ranking are New Zealand, Austria, Portugal and Denmark. Afghanistan ranked the last among all countries, yielding to Syria, South Sudan, Yemen and Iraq. They are the remaining six least peaceful countries.
Among the countries of the world, Armenia ranked 118th in the list, and among the CIS countries, it is on the 9th, ahead of Azerbaijan, which ranked130th in the global ranking. Kazakhstan is the first in the list of CIS countries, and Russia is in the last place.
To note, the index is compiled taking into account not only external but also internal factors. In addition to the country's international relations and military spending, it takes into account, inter alia, the level of violence, crime, and is also evaluated by many other indicators.
