State Revenue Committee reports significant growth in labor force in  Armenia

ArmInfo.  As of the end of December 2019, the number of labor force in Armenia has increased since April 2018 by 88 thousand people or 16%, amounting to a total  of 629 thousand people. Head of Monitoring, Control, and Tax  Administration of the State Revenue Committee of Armenia (SRC) Karen  Tamazyan announced this during a press conference on March 4.

According to him, the largest growth of employees was recorded in the  retail trade (by 18%), catering (by 13%), wholesale trade (by 8%),  food production (by 7%) and in the service sector (by 5%).

In addition, Tamazyan emphasized that during the reporting period, as  a result of inspections by the relevant department of the State  Revenue Committee, 1,500 unregistered workers were identified.

When asked about how this new staff was able to grow in companies,  the representative of the SRC noted that he did not have specific  information on this. However, he emphasized that the increase in the  number of employees contributed to the growth of the tax base.

In this regard, Tamazyan noted that if as of April 2018 the number of  people whose income exceeded 2 million drams amounted to 1616 people,  then as of December 2019, their number reached 4237.
