In Armenia deflation of consumer prices in February was due to  cheapening of food products 

ArmInfo. In February 2020, the consumer market of Armenia recorded a deflation of 0.2% with a y-o-y deflation of 0.5%, against inflation of 0.6% in February 2019 and  y-o-y inflation of 1.9%. As the RA Statistical Committee reported to  ArmInfo,  in Yerevan in February 2020  consumer prices decreased by  0.1%, compared to an increase of 0.7% in February 2019.

Deflation of consumer prices in February was due to cheapening of  food products (including alcohol and cigarettes) by 0.3% (against a  1.6% price increase a year earlier), non-food - by 0.2% (against a  0.4% price drop a year earlier) and a decrease in tariffs for  services - by 0.1% (against a similar decline a year earlier).

In y-o-y terms (February 2020 to February 2019), a 0.5% deflation was  recorded in the consumer market amid cheaper food products by 2.9%,  while non-food products went up by 1.9%, and service tariffs grew by  1.4%. As a comparison, we note that in February 2019 compared to  February 2018 inflation was recorded at 1.9%, accompanied by a rise  in the price of food and non-food products - by 3.5% and 0.6%,  respectively, and an increase in tariffs for services by 0.4%.

In January-February 2020, compared with January-February 2019,  consumer prices decreased by 0.1% due to the reduction in the price  of food products by 2%, while non-food products rose by 1.8% and the  tariffs for services increased by 1.4%. A year earlier, in  January-February 2019, compared with January-February 2018, inflation  in the consumer market amounted to 1.3% due to a rise in price of  food products by 2.1%, non-food products by 0.7% and increase in  tariffs for services by 0, 5%.
