In Jan 2020, Armenian metallurgical industry increased volumes by  49.3% per annum

ArmInfo. The metallurgical industry of Armenia in January 2020 compared to January 2019 increased production by 49.3%, compared with a 5% decline a year  earlier. According to the RA Statistical Committee, in January 2020,  ferromolybdenum production increased by 15.6% compared to the same  period in 2019, amounting to 562 tons, compared to an increase of  40.9% a year earlier.

During the reporting period, the production of molybdenum concentrate  increased 1.9-fold- up to 1544 tons, against a decline of 14.1% a  year earlier. Copper concentrate production increased by 48.1% to  35.5 thousand tons, against a decline of 14.9% a year earlier. Zinc  concentrate production increased by 43.3% to 1045 tons, against a  decline of 5.7% a year earlier.

The production of aluminum foil in January 2020 compared to the same  period in 2019 increased by 37.2% - up to 2,901 tons, against the  32.9% decline a year earlier.

The production of steel pipes, hollow profiles and fittings decreased  in January 2020 by 9.3% per annum (against the decline by 9.2% a year  earlier), amounting to 624 tons.

Alloy (carbon) steel castings were produced in January 2020 in the  amount of 1,772 tons, with an increase of 2.8- fold over the year,  against a decline of 69% a year earlier.

All metals produced in Armenia are exported, mainly to Europe and the  USA.

To recall, the metallurgical industry of Armenia in 2019 slowed down  the decline in production volumes to 4.7% from 7.2% in 2018 (against  an increase of 11.3% in 2017). In particular, ferromolybdenum  production increased by 5.5%, molybdenum concentrate - by 28.9%,  copper concentrate - by 26%, aluminum foil - by 7.7%, steel pipes -  by 7.6%. Zinc concentrate production increased by 3.8%. At the same  time, the production of alloy (carbon) steel castings decreased in  2019 by 15.2%.
