In 2019, Armenia reduced the volume of imported sugar by 32%

ArmInfo. In 2019, Armenia imported 55.8 thousand tons of sugar, which is 32% less than the indicator a year ago (against the decline by 26% in 2018). According  to the report of the RA Customs Service, in value terms, sugar  imports decreased by 32.4% to $ 20.2 million.

Sugar is mainly imported to Armenia from Brazil (70.9%), the Russian  Federation (25.3%), Ukraine (11.5%), Belarus (0.2%), and the rest  comes from France, Italy, India, Germany, Czech Republic, the United  Kingdom, Colombia, Lebanon, Sweden, Swaziland, USA, Poland, Greece.

In 2019, Armenia increased sugar exports from 1.5 tons to 42.5 tons.  The Syrian Arab Republic (94.1%) acted as sales markets, the  remainder fell to the USA, Georgia, Iran and Germany.

According to the Statistical Committee of the Republic of Armenia, in  2019, 59981 tons of refined sugar, produced from cane or beet sugar  in solid form, were produced in Armenia. In y-o-y terms, the growth  of this indicator amounted to 3.4%.

It should be noted that according to previously available data, 99.9%  of sugar imports to Armenia are accounted for by Alex-Grig, owned by  the family of Armenian oligarch Samvel Aleksanyan.
