ArmInfo.In 2019, Armenia increased the volume of export of copper ore by 32.3% to 562 thousand tons, against the decline in 2018 by 13.2%. According to the data of the RA Customs Service, in value terms, export of copper ore amounted to $ 626.6 million, with a y-o-y growth of 19.2%.
Copper ore was exported to Bulgaria (40.3%), Switzerland (29.8%), China (28%), Canada (1.7%), as well as to Georgia, Germany, the Russian Federation, Japan, the Netherlands, and the United Kingdom. A positive trend was also observed in the export of molybdenum concentrate, the volumes of which increased 2.7-fold (against the decline by 46.1% in 2018) to 2.1 thousand tons, while the customs value increased by 2.3-fold reaching up to $ 17.9 million. Exports were to Switzerland (38.7%), Belgium (37.2%), China (19.1%), Russia (2.9%), Korea (1.9%), as well as the United Kingdom and the Netherlands.
At the same time, a decline in exports of zinc concentrate by 2.5% (against growth by 22.4% in 2018) to 12.2 thousand tons was recorded, with the entire volume falling to Belgium. During the reporting year, the customs value decreased by 19.6% to $ 16.5 million.
In 2019, Armenia increased the export of ores containing precious metals by 6.7% (against an increase of 43.3% in 2018) to 3.3 thousand tons. At the same time, a decline of 5.6% to $ 3.1 million was recorded in value terms. And almost the entire volume of exported raw materials fell, like a year earlier, to Switzerland.
According to the Statistical Committee of the Republic of Armenia, in 2019 the production of molybdenum concentrate increased by 28.9% - up to 14 322 tons. The volume of copper concentrate production increased by 26% - up to 400 thousand tons. The production of zinc concentrate in the reporting year increased by 3.8% to 11,238 tons.
