Armenia reduced export and import of grapes in 2019

ArmInfo. In 2019, Armenia reduced the volume of exports and imports of grapes. According to the data of the RA Customs Service, during the reporting period, the  supply of Armenian grapes to the markets of foreign countries  decreased by 5.5%, amounting to 12 thousand tons.

At the same time,  an increase in customs value by 5.8% to $ 6.3 million was recorded.   Mostly, Armenia exports grapes to Russia (87.3%), Georgia (12%), Iraq  (0.6%), Belarus (0.1%), as well as to the UAE, Iran, Czech Republic,  Saudi Arabia and the USA.

A downtrend is observed along the lines of imported grapes. In  particular, in 2019, Armenia reduced import volumes by 8.1% to 3.9  thousand tons, while the customs value increased by 36.5% to $ 3.5  million.  Mostly grapes were imported from Turkey to the Armenian  market (49.2%) IRI (32.2%), Uzbekistan (13%), Chile (2.4%), South  Africa (2.3%), Russia (0.6%), as well as from Peru, Afghanistan,  Italy, Egypt, India, UAE, Georgia and Germany.

According to the Statistical Committee of the Republic of Armenia, in  2019 the volume of grape harvest in Armenia increased by 21%,  amounting to 217.4 thousand tons.
