ArmInfo. In crisis conditions, amid the spread of coronavirus, agriculture is becoming one of the most important and interesting fields of activity. Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan expressed a similar opinion during the meeting dedicated to the preparatory work of the upcoming agricultural season in the RA government.
In this regard, he noted that the problem of food security is becoming more urgent and important today not only in Armenia, but throughout the world. The Prime Minister emphasized that in Armenia there are ample opportunities for creating new jobs in the field of agriculture and ensuring employment of the self- employed.
"I believe that now is a convenient time to carry out those institutional reforms that, for objective and subjective reasons, could not be implemented earlier," the prime minister said, noting that options are currently being discussed by the operational group on economic issues. According to the head of government, in the near future it is necessary to stimulate the formation of farms and cooperatives in the Republic of Armenia.
''We believe that this will give a new opportunity to all those people who on an individual level have not achieved success in the field of agriculture, and now, due to bad credit histories, they will have restrictions on other programs. This direction, of course, is very important, but here a special responsibility is expected from the government and state bodies, so that we formulate clear criteria for managing these cooperatives,> he said. Continuing the idea, Pashinyan noted that the possibility of obtaining an appropriate license and taking courses by persons who will have the status of the head of a cooperative is being considered and discussed.
According to the government, during the discussion, work was also presented on vaccinating farm animals, diagnosing diseases, creating veterinary centers, carried out in the framework of cooperation between the government and the fund " Center for Agribusiness and Rural Development". Responsible persons reported on the work on timely and proper supply of irrigation water, in particular, it was stated that water pipes with a length of 2500 km were cleaned, which is 1000 km more than the indicator a year ago. In addition, it was stated that within the framework of this cooperation, 39 communities of Armenia were provided with agricultural equipment worth 630 million drams.
As N. Pashinyan emphasized, the events should be organized in such a way that the villagers would be provided with all the conditions for starting spring agricultural work.
