ArmInfo. Armenia is discussing within the EAEU a temporary ban on grain exports introduced in Russia in connection with the situation with coronavirus. On March 25, Deputy Prime Minister Mher Grigoryan announced this from the rostrum of the parliament.
To recall, the Rosselkhoznadzor (Federal Service for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Surveillance) suspended exports from Russia of all types of cereals. The corresponding restriction was introduced on March 20; The ban is valid for 10 days.
Answering the question of whether the ban would negatively affect Armenia, Mheryan noted: <This question was raised within the framework of the EAEU platform. It is agreed that such situations will be excluded.
Russia offers EAEU member countries within its borders to establish bans in order to avoid the possible export of grain to third countries. This issue will be finally resolved on April 3>.
According to him there are some questions regarding medical equipment. ''We are discussing them, and at the moment I can not say anything about their solution. I think that we will come to some decisions>, - said the Deputy Prime Minister.
Answering a question about whether it is reasonable for Armenia to introduce restrictions on the export of strategic food products in order to avoid their possible shortage, Mheryan said. <As calculations show, at the moment, there is no such problem, fortunately. If it does arise, then the Commandant's Office has the appropriate tools for its settlement. We must be careful in these actions, as other countries can take similar decisions, and therefore we must clearly understand the balance of exports and imports>.
