COVID-19: Many hotels in Armenia are mothballed due to lack of  tourists

ArmInfo. The hotel business continues to incur losses due to the spread of the COVID-19 coronavirus. According to the Chairman of the Tourism Committee of  the Republic of Armenia Susanna Safaryan at a March 30 press  conference, many hotels in Armenia are almost mothballed due to the  lack of tourists.

Meanwhile, Safaryan informed that a number of hotels went to mutually  beneficial cooperation with the state, providing their premises to  isolate citizens who have had contact with coronavirus patients. In  this case, the hotel is rented as a whole for the needs of both  isolated citizens and medical staff. At the moment, hotels located in  Yerevan, Tsaghkadzor and Dilijan with 50 or more rooms are invited to  such cooperation.  Representatives of the hotel sector interested in  this offer can provide price information to the Tourism Committee.

According to Safaryan, it is possible that in the future hotels with  less than 50 rooms will be invited to such cooperation.

As noted, all hotel rooms that are quarantined are periodically  disinfected. This means that living in these rooms does not pose a  threat to health and, accordingly, cannot in the future undermine the  flow of tourists who may be afraid of settling in "quarantine"  hotels.
