ArmInfo.Armenia did not suspend cargo transportation with Iran in the context of the coronavirus pandemic, since from an economic point of view this was justified. As reported by ArmInfo in the RA MFA, the Armenian Ambassador to Iran Artashes Tumanyan stated this in an interview with ArmNews TV channel.
"All the drivers who crossed the Armenian territory were under control, there was no transmission of infection. Later, cargo transportation was carried out according to agreed lists. The Iranian side presented a list of goods that she wanted to receive, the Armenian side presented a list of goods that we needed," diplomat.
At the same time, he stated that despite the closure of air and land borders, all interested citizens of the Republic of Armenia managed to return home, of which 800 were people. At the same time, the diplomat added that they were all controlled in terms of preventing the spread of coronavirus, and only two people had an infection, both had recovered, the distribution chain did not continue.
Tumanyan noted that the Armenians in Iran receive the same help as Iranian citizens, and during this period six cases of death from a coronavirus in the Armenian community were recorded. The ambassador also informed that the diplomatic mission continues to organize the process of returning the citizens of Armenia to their homeland and next week the next group will be sent to Armenia.
It should be noted that on February 23, Armenia closed air and land communications with Iran. The exception was cargo transportation, which is carried out with restrictions.
