ArmInfo.Chaired by RA Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan a consultative meeting was held to discuss issues related to the implementation of credit programs in the fields of tourism and waste management.
As the press service of the PM reports, under the tourism and infrastructure development program, the credit value of which is $ 55 million, from 2016 to this day, $ 6 million has been spent. It is planned that in the framework of the program in 2020 another $ 4 million will be invested. In particular, in the regions of Ararat, Vayots Dzor, Syunik, Aragatsotn, Shirak, Kotayk, Gegharkunik and Armavir, work will be done to improve tourist infrastructures, in particular, work on zoning tourism, repairing roads, and restoring historic sites.
Then, the meeting participants discussed the possibility of implementing programs in Gyumri and Jermuk, the design work on which has already been completed. It is envisaged that these programs will be implemented on the basis of public-private partnerships. The process of implementing a community infrastructure development loan program was also presented.
Then, the head of government was presented with the progress in implementing the solid waste management loan program. In particular, it was noted that within the framework of this program, it is planned to build a new landfill in the neighborhood of the existing waste dump in Nubarashen in Yerevan and to conserve 2 non-functioning landfills in the capital. Currently, a process is underway to organize a tender for the selection of a project contractor. Within the framework of the same program, work was carried out on the construction of a landfill for residents of Kotayk and Gegharkunik regions.
Summing up the meeting, the Prime Minister noted that Armenia still had a chronic practice of under- fulfilling capital expenditures. <Especially this year, under-fulfilling capital expenditures are unacceptable. We need to accurately forecast the expenditure segment so that the funds which will be impossible to spend will be used to implement other programs " , said Nikol Pashinyan, emphasizing the importance of implementing these projects, especially from the point of view of solving social problems
