South Caucasus Railway began work on the overhaul of railways

ArmInfo. The "South Caucasus  Railway" company in April began scheduled work on the overhaul of the  railways.

According to the company's press service, since April 13, the track  crew of the Masis railway machine station has begun replacing the  upper track structure at the Pambak-Shagali section in the Lori  region of Armenia. In general, according to the approved  infrastructure management plan for 2020, it is planned to overhaul 8  kilometers of the track, replace 17 thousand sleepers with new  reinforced concrete sleepers, replace 13.2 thousand tons of rubble,  repair 7 kilometers of the contact network and upgrade the electric  centralization station on the Hrazdan-Sevan section.

The amount of the approved investment program of SCR in  infrastructure alone for 2020 is estimated at 1 billion 845 million  drams, however, the planned volume of investments may increase by  77%. South Caucasus Railway CJSC is a 100% subsidiary of Russian  Railways OJSC and provides concession management of Armenian  railways. Railway infrastructure of Armenia was transferred to  concession management of SCR CJSC in accordance with the Concession  Agreement signed on February 13, 2008.  The concession management  period is 30 years with the right to extend for another 10 years.
