ArmInfo. In the first 4 months of this year, the South Caucasus Railway company transported 974.1 thousand tons of cargo, which is 8.4% more than the same period in 2019.

According to the press service of SCR, this was announced during a  conference call at the company.  At the same time, the volume of  import of goods for the reporting period decreased by 8.9% compared  to last year, export transportation increased by 7.6%, more than  15.2% of cargo was transported in local traffic. According to the  company's forecast, in May a decrease in traffic volumes in all  directions is expected in relation to the same month of 2019. The  number of passengers carried in the first 4 months of this year  compared to the same period in 2019 decreased by 16.2%, amounting to  18.8 thousand people.

As Alexey Melnikov, CEO of SCR, said during the meeting, the board of  directors of the company, in view of the current situation in  connection with a new coronavirus infection, approved a revised  downward plan of the company's work. <I believe that in the first 4  months of this year, all divisions of the company worked efficiently  and did what was necessary to maintain the volume of cargo on the  railway. Given the persistent difficult social and economic situation  in Armenia, the staff of SCR and the enterprises included in its  structure should continue to responsibly approach the fulfillment of  the tasks set, "A. Melnikov noted.

During the meeting, it was also noted that in the current year, the  average wage level in <SCR> amounted to 246 thousand drams. For the  calendar year, the average wage increased by 18.3%. Starting July 1,  the company will introduce a new provision on bonuses, the essence of  which is that the amount of employee bonuses will not depend on the  performance of the company as a whole, but on the individual  performance of employees. This measure is primarily aimed at  preserving wages regardless of the projected decrease in traffic in  the future.  South Caucasus Railway CJSC is a 100% subsidiary of  Russian Railways OJSC and provides concession management of Armenian  railways. The railway infrastructure of Armenia was transferred to  the concession management of SCR CJSC in accordance with the  Concession Agreement signed on February 13, 2008. The concession  management period is 30 years with the right to extend for another 10  years.
