ArmInfo.The activities of the Armenian government this year were mainly aimed at mitigating the economic consequences of COVID-19. On May 16, Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan announced this at a remote press conference, presenting the fourth report on <100 Government Steps>.
According to the Prime Minister, 18 anti-crisis programs have been developed and are being applied, of which 7 are of an economic sector and 11 are social. The volume of financial assistance amounted to 84.4 billion drams by May 16. The assistance package was used by 48.4 thousand individuals and 1.1 million legal entities.
In order to mitigate the consequences of the pandemic within the EAEU, the deadlines for the application of unified customs duties of 900 items of goods were postponed until the end of 2020. Thus, the risk of price increases decreased by 0.5% - 06%.
Active cooperation has developed with international partners and foreign countries. In particular, the European Union will provide 96 million euros to Armenia to overcome the consequences of the coronavirus, the United States -$ 1.7 million, the World Bank - $ 3 million. The International Monetary Fund announced its readiness to increase aid to Armenia to $ 280 million. In addition, the German government will provide the republic with about 91 million euros.
