ArmInfo."Despite the future situation with coronavirus in the world, many countries are thinking about resuming air communications, including Armenia," said Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan at a May 16 press conference.
However, the head of government found it difficult to assess the situation related to the resumption of tourist flows. "The situation is uncertain. Perhaps tourists will begin to come to Armenia and treat the coronavirus as normal flu, or maybe not", Pashinyan emphasized. Armenia, he said, is a country with income from the tourism industry. Therefore, according to the Prime Minister, it is necessary to work on the proper organization of domestic tourism, which will fully load tourism infrastructure.
"I hope that this year we will have a serious movement on domestic tourism," the head of government said.
According to the RA Statistical Committee, 311,264 people visited Armenia in the I quarter for tourism purposes (with a decline of 14.6% per annum), and 275 716 people left (with a y-o-y decline of 13.3%) .
