ArmInfo. The public sector of Armenia in the context of the coronavirus pandemic works according to the hybrid method, combining work in the office and remotely, thus, the quarantine has been completely canceled in the country. The Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan announced this on May 19 at a meeting of the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council.
Noting that the abolition of quarantine led to a slight increase in the number of people infected with coronavirus, he emphasized that strict health safety rules had been introduced in the country when carrying out economic and other activities, which were mandatory for all citizens. At the same time, the Armenian Prime Minister expressed his conviction that the effectiveness of the implementation of the introduced rules as a whole will depend on the responsibility of citizens.
"During the strict quarantine period, we managed to take measures to increase the throughput of the healthcare system. Over the next two weeks we will conduct permanent monitoring of the situation," Pashinyan said, while expressing the hope that there will be no need to return to strict quarantine. The prime minister added that all conditions will be created for the effective functioning of the economy in the conditions of a pandemic.
Talking about the programs adopted by the Armenian government to mitigate the socio-economic consequences of the coronavirus, Pashinyan noted that the measures taken are also aimed at speeding the economy out of the state of shutdown and developing in the post-pandemic period.
"We also managed to organize effective control in the retail sector, to eliminate a possible shortage of goods and prevent a significant increase in consumer prices. Thanks to the Central Bank's operational measures, we were able to stop sharp fluctuations in the country's financial market and ensure a stable exchange rate of the national currency," he said.
At the same time, the Prime Minister of Armenia once again pointed out the need to develop cooperation within the EAEU, strengthen the union and improve the fundamental institutions of integration, having proved their viability during the crisis, and be ready to take advantage of all the economic opportunities that will obviously appear in the post-crisis period.
"In this context, the strategic development of Eurasian integration until 2025 is of particular importance. We are convinced that the areas of cooperation indicated in this document will enhance the attractiveness of the integration union, increase its competitiveness and scientific and production potential," said the Prime Minister of Armenia.
At the same time, he expressed his conviction that in the conditions of global economic challenges facing all countries today, formation of a common gas market is of urgent need for Armenia. "A single energy market with non-discriminatory principles of operation should become one of the foundations of our integration. Without it, qualitative progress in integration processes is impossible, it is impossible to ensure equal conditions for economic activity for all members of the union," he said, expressing the conviction that this principle should be included in the development strategy of the integration association until 2025, taking into account the natural monopoly by the entity during gas transportation and transit.
The Prime Minister of Armenia also believes that the Union should strive to achieve this goal in stages, which will create favorable conditions for deeper integration within the EAEU.
In conclusion, Pashinyan congratulated everyone on the 75th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War, assuring that everything necessary was done in Armenia so that the heroism of the peoples would not be forgotten.
