Yesayan brothers intend to buy out VEON business in Armenia

ArmInfo. VEON, the world's  leading provider of communications and Internet services, confirms  the fact of entering into negotiations with Team LLC regarding the  possible sale of its business in Armenia.

According to a posting published on the VEON website, these  discussions may or may not lead to a transaction. VEON will report on  the progress of negotiations in accordance with regulatory  requirements.  Recall that Team LLC was founded in April 2020 by Hayk  Yesayan and Alexander Yesayan, who are also the founders of UCom and  owners of a 6% stake in the operator. Hayk Yesayan also served as CEO  of Ucom. However, on April 14, the Ucom Board of Governors dismissed  him. Before that, Hayk Yesayan, who owns with his brother Alexander a  5.94% stake in the company, suggested that the majority shareholders  represented by the owners of the Galaxy group of companies redeem  their shares in Ucom for more than $ 60 million, but were refused.  Yesayan then said that his decision to leave the company was also  motivated by the fact that his candidacy was not considered as the  head of the company after the possible merger of Ucom and Beeline  Armenia.

As ArmInfo reported, in January VEON announced negotiations on the  sale of the Armenian subsidiary to Ucom, the leading communications  operator in Armenia, but then, apparently, after the scandals  surrounding Ucom, the holding refused negotiations in May.
