ArmInfo. At a meeting of the RA National Assembly's Standing Committee on Economic Affairs on June 10, RA Deputy Minister of Economy Arman Khojoyan presented a bill providing for reduction of state duty for producers of brandy, brandy alcohol and alcoholic drinks based on honey.
The purpose of the bill, as the deputy head of the economic department noted, is to create favorable conditions for beginner small and medium producers. According to the current law, the state duty for producers of brandy and brandy alcohol today is set at 10 million drams, which, according to Khojoyan, is a serious obstacle to business development. A tariff of 15 million drams is in effect for the production of mead, and this despite the fact that the demand for this type of alcoholic beverage is not so high. <This is a well-known fact that it takes three years to make brandy, so it turns out that the manufacturer pays 30 million drams before starting to sell his products. We propose that this bill before the start of the process of selling brandy / brandy alcohol / mead annually pay a state fee in the amount of 50 thousand drams. When the manufacturer starts the implementation process, only then it will be required to pay 10 million drams>, he explained.
At the same time, Khojoyan noted that such changes were proposed based on the results of discussions with manufacturers who shared their problems and observations. In this context, the deputy minister stressed that at the moment in Armenia there are already 15 medium and small entrepreneurs who have expressed a desire to begin production of brandy and brandy alcohol. It should be noted that this bill was postponed for discussion at the plenary session of the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia.
