ArmInfo.. The Armenian economy is on upward trajectory, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said during a live broadcast from his Facebook page on June 23, referring to the final income tax reports for May of this year, submitted to the State Revenue Committee.
In this regard, he said that over the reported May, 50,094 paid jobs were restored in Armenia, against 71,471 closed jobs in April this year, when there was a lockdown associated with the pandemic. "We realized that we should concentrate not only on the healthcare system, but also do everything possible to eliminate economic collapse and the need to return to the lockdown," the head of government said.
At the same time, Pashinyan noted that such dynamics does not mean that economic difficulties have been overcome, but indicates only the recovery process, which must be continued in order to register higher economic indicators. In this context, the Prime Minister noted that the information, which he refers to in his statements, is reliable. As he explained, it is unprofitable for economic entities to show higher rates, since otherwise the amount of payments to the state treasury will increase.
At the same time, the Prime Minister noted that it is necessary to continue to follow properly the sanitary and epidemiological rules in order to avoid a return to the lockdown. <The May figures inspire optimism that we will have a fast pace of economic recovery. In addition, the SRC trade reports also speak of a recovery process. We must maintain this pace in order to regain the lost, and set a new pace. I hope that following the results of June, it will be possible to further improve the indicators>, Pashinyan said.
In conclusion, the Prime Minister noted that, despite the significant impact of government anti-crisis measures on the economy, the health situation will continue to be tense. According to the prime minister, this indicates improper compliance with the rules in a pandemic.
<If, God forbid, because of the statistics on coronavirus we will be forced to return to the lockdown, then more than a hundred thousand jobs will be closed. And under these conditions, restoration will not occur at a rapid pace, but it may even become impossible>, the prime minister concluded, urging once again to strictly observe sanitary and epidemiological rules.
