And this despite the fact that since May 18, the private sector has fully resumed, despite the extended state of emergency until August 13.
According to the preliminary data of the Statistical Committee of the Republic of Armenia, in the first half of 2020, the nominal wages slowed down the annual growth rate to 5.4% from 5.6% in the first half of 2019, amounting to 186410 drams ($ 386). In June 2020, as compared to June 2019, the nominal wage growth slowed down to 1.5% from 6.2% in June 2019 to June 2018.
Wages in the public sector in the H1 of 2020 amounted to 162,011 drams ($ 335), with an acceleration of y- o-y growth from 6.4% to 8.3%. And for wages in the private sector, which amounted to 198,323 drams ($ 410), there was a slowdown in the rate of y-o-y growth - from 3.9% to 3.8%. In June 2020 alone, wages in the public sector increased by 3.3% (from a 2.7% decline in May), while the dynamics of salaries in the private sector fell by 2% (from a 0.7% decline in May). %), which is similar to the June dynamics of a year ago, when wages in the public sector grew by 1.8% and wages in the private sector fell by 0.9%.
In June 2020, compared to June 2019, civil servants' wages accelerated growth to 7.5% from 5.8% a year earlier, and the dynamics of salaries in the private sector fell by 1% from 5.2% growth a year earlier.
The average calculated AMD exchange rate in June 2020 was 481.27 AMD / $ 1, and in the 1st half of 2020 - 483.50 AMD / $ 1, against 478.47 AMD / $ 1 in June 2019 and 484.16 AMD / $ 1 in the 1st half of the year 2019
