Ex-MP: Without the support of the mining industry, the Armenian  industry would have recorded much more modest indicators

ArmInfo. Without the support of the mining industry, the Armenian industry would have recorded much more modest indicators. Gagik Minasyan, a former deputy of the RA National Assembly from the Republican Party, stated this at a press  conference in Yerevan on July 28.

According to him, the mining industry has once again become a  lifesaver for the country. Thus, in the first 5 months of this year,  the industry in Armenia recorded an increase of 2.4%, however,  according to the results of the first half of the year, a decline of  0.9% was noted.

Thus, according to the economist and former deputy, the actual growth  was only 1.5%. However, in this growth, the factor of the mining  industry is more than obvious, which grew by as much as 25% in the  first five months.

This, according to the ex-MP, is a shameful fact for the current  government, which in its election promises stated that the republic  will no longer be an appendage of foreign states, and that Armenia  will be turned into a country with high technologies.

Moreover, according to Gagik Minasyan, over the past month the trend  of dependence on the mining industry has become even more aggravated.  In particular, even during the aggravation and hostilities on the  border with the Tavush region of Armenia, attempts were made to  resume the construction of the Amulsar gold deposit. "That is, even  during this period, attempts were made to launch another mining  enterprise so that it would be activated, because, most likely,  without the support of the mining industry, the Armenian economy will  show very modest indicators," the ex-MP stated.
