ArmInfo. The Armenian Consulate General in St. Petersburg discussed the possibility of building its own trading system in the region. The meeting was held on the initiative of the acting Consul General of Armenia in St. Petersburg Vazgen Sargsyan.
The current situation in St. Petersburg and the North-West region in terms of Armenian-Azerbaijani relations was discussed by the representative of Armenia in the CIS Interparliamentary Assembly Hayk Chilingaryan, the representative of the Yerevan Municipality Armenak Karapetyan, the chairman of the Armenian autonomy Karen Mkrtchyan and a number of members of the Armenian community. The meeting participants called the situation in St. Petersburg relatively stable, but at the same time drew attention to the need to have their own trading system in the city. If this is not possible, the Armenian trade representative in Moscow is invited to appoint an authorized representative in St. Petersburg.
Earlier, the ABN portal already reported that two Armenian fairs are expected to appear in the northern capital in the near future. It is assumed that goods there can be purchased at 30-40% cheaper due to the absence of intermediaries in their sale. "The days that passed after the July 30 meeting, the experience of sales, continued discussions with stakeholders also showed that this process of building an effective and reliable trading system should go from two sides," the page of the regional Armenian national-cultural autonomy of St. Petersburg says. Some of the issues need to be resolved with the direct participation of the state, but at the same time, initiatives should also come "from below", that is, from the entrepreneurs themselves.
By now, a circle of interested entrepreneurs has already begun to form, who have retail outlets or parking spaces that allow them to sell their products. Additionally, a map of such points in St. Petersburg and the region is being created, and the issue of creating fairs is being discussed.
