ArmInfo. The metallurgical industry of Armenia in the H1 of 2020 showed an increase of 19.4% per annum, against a 3.7% decline in the same period of 2019. According to the RA Statistical Committee, in the H1 of the year, the production of ferromolybdenum in Armenia increased by 11.2% per annum (against growth by 5.4% a year earlier), amounting to 4,140.5 tons.
In June alone, ferromolybdenum was produced 718 tons, which is 7.5% more than in May.
In the H1 of this year, molybdenum concentrate production increased 1.8-fold on an annualized basis - up to 12,404 tons, against an increase of 28.3% a year earlier. In June alone, the production of molybdenum concentrate increased by 17.6% to 2,941 tons.
Copper concentrate production increased in the H1 of the year by 16.6% per annum - to 188.3 thousand tons, against a decline of 3.6% a year earlier. On a monthly basis, the volume of copper concentrate production decreased by 10.2% to 31.5 thousand tons.
Zinc concentrate production increased in the H1 of the year by 28.2% per annum - to 6,942 tons, against a 9.3% decline a year earlier. In June, the production of zinc concentrate decreased by 20.6% to 1,013 tons. Production of aluminum foil in the H1 of the year increased by 13.7% per annum - up to 17 443 tons, against a decline of 5.8% a year earlier. At the same time, in June the volume of production of aluminum foil increased by 3.3% - up to 2,925 tons.
Production of steel pipes in the H1 of the year increased by 36.1% per annum - up to 6 391 tons (against a decline of 21.5% a year earlier), and in June alone there was an increase of 8.6% - up to 1,545 tons. Alloy (carbon) steel castings were produced in the H1 of the year in the amount of 7,914 tons, with a y-o-y growth of 23.3%. At the same time, in June production volumes increased by 1.1%, amounting to 914.2 tons. All metals produced in Armenia are exported mainly to Europe and the USA.
To recall, the metallurgical industry in Armenia in 2019 declined in production from 7.2% to 4.7% in 2018 (against an increase of 11.3% in 2017). In particular, the production of ferromolybdenum increased by 5.5%, molybdenum concentrate - by 28.9%, copper concentrate - by 26%, aluminum foil - by 7.7%, steel pipes - by 7.6%. Zinc concentrate production increased by 3.8%. The production of alloy (carbon) steel castings decreased by 15.2% in 2019.
