A project to build small and medium-sized smart livestock farms in 34  border communities starts in Armenia

ArmInfo. A project "TOGETHER" is launched in Armenia, aimed at the construction or modernization of small and medium-sized "smart" livestock farms in 34 border communities of Gegharkunik and Vayots Dzor regions. This was reported by the press service of the RA Ministry of Economy.

According to the source, the project also provides for the provision  of state assistance for the technological provision of these farms  within the framework of the UNDP "Sustainable Communities" program  and the RA Ministry of Economy. The joint project is aimed at the  construction or reconstruction of "smart" livestock buildings with a  production area of 280 square meters with separate boxes and  technical equipment. In particular, the executive body will finance the  expenses of 50% of beneficiaries who have become program participants  in the amount of no more than 70%.

"By ensuring sustainable development of border communities, together  with UNDP, we have developed a unique form of cooperation. By pooling  available resources, we intend to contribute to the construction of"  smart " livestock buildings in selected regions and settlements,  which will be a great incentive for the development of the milk  production chain. I am convinced that such cooperation will give an  even wider application of state aid development programs, we will be  able to achieve our goals in the shortest possible time. We are  committed to the successful implementation of the program, since the  use of advanced technologies in these settlements will stimulate the  formation of a new agricultural culture, an example of this success  will be contagious for neighboring communities, "said RA Deputy  Minister of Economy Arman Khojoyan.

Applicants for participation in the program are persons with RA  citizenship, permanently residing in border settlements points of  Gegharkunik and Vayots Dzor regions that have an agreement on state  support with the RA Ministry of Economy,  a large number of cattle.  Applicants must also complete a week of training in animal husbandry.  "It an exceptional measure, since UNDP was the first to develop such  a cooperation model to support the government support program. The  program is aimed at the development of "smart" pedigree cattle  breeding in 34 border villages of Gegharkunik and Vayots Dzor regions  within the framework of state support programs implemented by the RA  government in agriculture, which, in turn, will contribute to  socio-economic development, reduce poverty, and alleviate it.  consequences, "said UNDP Acting Representative in Armenia Mikaela  Stoikoska.
