
ArmInfo.Armenia's GDP decreased in the first half of 2020 by 7.1% per annum (against 8% growth a year earlier), amounting to 2.5 trillion AMD ($ 5.3 billion). However, in the Q2 of this year GDP nevertheless demonstrated growth, but stagnant - 0.4% with the exit from the 38.7% decline in the Q1, which however significantly yielded to the quarterly growth a year ago (20.6% in the Q2 of 2019).
In the Q2 of 2020, compared to the Q2 of 2019, GDP recorded a y-o-y decline of 13.7%, while a year earlier, the dynamics was upward by 6.5%. This is evidenced by the data of the RA Statistical Committee.
According to statistics, the GDP deflator index in the Q2 of 2020 changed insignificantly - to 98.8% from 98% in the Q1, against 102.3% exceeding the base 100 last year in the Q2 and 103.8% in the Q1. At the end of the first half of 2020, the trade sector, the industrial sector and the service sector remained dominant in GDP in terms of volumes, but only the industrial sector remained in growth - with a slowdown to 1.5% from last year's 6.9%. At the same time, the turnover of domestic trade dropped by 11.1% (against 8.9% growth a year earlier), and the volume of services decreased by 6.4% (against 15.3% growth a year earlier). Foreign trade turnover decreased in the first half of 2020 by 10.7% per annum as a result of a 12.9% decline in imports and 6.5% in exports.
The average calculated exchange rate of the dram was 483.50 AMD / $ 1 in the first half of 2020, against 484.16 AMD / $ 1 - in the first half of 2019.
