European Union is main foreign trade partner of EAEU

ArmInfo. The two leading world integration groups - the EAEU and the EU - strive to strengthen trade and economic relations between the two unions. As of today, the  European Union is the main foreign trade partner of the EAEU.

Director of the Centre for Integration Studies, Eurasian Development  Bank, Andrey Petrosyan, noted that, unfortunately, the sanctions  policy of developed Western countries, including European ones,  towards the Russian Federation has complicated the interaction of the  two unions in recent years, although the EAEU does not abandon its  desire to sign an agreement, which was actively discussed earlier.

According to him, the EU has 24.8% share in Armenia's total trade  (Armenia ranks 102nd in the list of trade partners of the European  Union). The EU is Armenia's largest export market (28.4%) and the  second largest import market (23.1%). The volume of trade is EUR  1.192 million; imports - EUR 407 billion; exports - EUR 785 billion.  Main goods imported from Armenia: manufactured goods (50.8%); The  main goods exported to Armenia: cars and transport equipment (35.4%).

The EU is one of the largest trading partners of Kazakhstan, which  accounts for up to 40% of the total trade in the country (22nd among  the EU's trading partners). Trade volume - EUR 24.309 billion.  Imports - EUR 18.381 billion, exports - EUR 5.928 billion. The main  goods imported from Kazakhstan are oil and gas (92.15%). The main  goods exported to Kazakhstan: vehicles and transport equipment  (52.7%), chemical products (18%).

The EU is the second most important trading partner of Belarus; the  Union accounts for almost 1/3 of the republic's foreign trade. Trade  volume is EUR 10.887 billion; imports - EUR 4.157 billion; exports -  EUR 6.730 billion. The main goods exported to Belarus: cars and  transport equipment (42.1%), chemicals (19.3%). The main goods  imported from Belarus are industrial goods (30.9%), mineral fuels  (18.4%).

Kyrgyzstan has the least developed trade relations with the EU among  all the EAEU countries. Trade volume - EUR 433 billion.

Russia is the EU's fifth largest trading partner in exports (4%) and  fourth in imports (7%). Trade volume - EUR 231.1 billion; exports -  EUR 87.8 billion; imports - EUR 143.4 billion. Trade deficit - EUR 56  billion. The main items of trade are: raw materials and energy, food  and beverages, machinery and vehicles, chemicals and other  manufactured goods. The main goods exported to Russia: cars and  vehicles (43%), other manufactured goods (23%), chemicals (23%).
