Electricity generation in Armenia increased by 1.5%

Electricity generation in Armenia increased by 1.5%

ArmInfo. Electricity generation in Armenia in January- September 2020 amounted to 5,737 million kWh, having increased by 1.5% on y-o-y (against a decline of  2.2% a year earlier), and in September alone decreased by 3.7% up to  632.2 million kWh.

According to the Statistical Committee of the Republic of Armenia, in  January-August 2019, TPPs reduced electricity generation by 0.4% per  annum - to 2,350.7 million kWh, HPPs - by 24.4% to 1,479.3 million  kWh. On the contrary, the Armenian NPP increased its generation by  43.3% - up to 1,890.4 million kWh.

During the reporting period, 29.6 thousand gigajoules of thermal  energy were produced, with y-o-y growth of 55.8%. In the reporting  period, wind power plants produced 1.6 million kWh of electricity  (with a decline of 36%) and solar power plants -15 million kWh, which  is 47.1% more than a year ago.
