Minister: In 2021, 31.2 billion drams to be allocated to promote  agriculture in Armenia

ArmInfo. In 2021, 31.2 billion drams will be allocated to promote agriculture in Armenia. The Minister of Economy of the Republic of Armenia Tigran Khachatryan  stated this on November 6 at a hearing in parliamentary commissions  on the draft state budget of the country in 2021.

According to him, the specified amount exceeds the volume of  assistance for the current year, which is equal to 29 billion drams.  Some of the programs that began in 2020 will continue into the next  year. These programs are largely due to the coronavirus epidemic and  the fighting in Karabakh, which could not but affect economic  activity. The goal of state assistance to farmers in 2021 is to  increase productivity, increase the competitiveness of products. From  the point of view of productivity, as the minister noted, the  agricultural sector is one of the most vulnerable. Meanwhile, an  increase in productivity will lead to an increase in competitiveness,  both between business entities and between their products. In the  field of crop production, the assistance program will be aimed at  solving three main tasks - the establishment of intensive gardens  using modern technologies, drip irrigation and insurance of  agricultural risks. With the installation of anti-hail installations  in intensive gardens, risks will also be significantly reduced. The  Minister recalled the program of agricultural risks insurance against  bad weather, which was launched in 2020.

In the current year, there were certain restrictions on the names of  risk insurance, in 2021 this list will increase significantly.  Another program in the agricultural sector concerns the construction  of greenhouses.  Assistance will continue in the form of equipment  leasing for the creation of greenhouses.  In the field of cattle  breeding, as Tigran Khachatryan noted, it is also planned to  implement several projects. In particular, the government's efforts  will be aimed at changing the attitude of farmers to barns.  The  executive body wants to see more "smart cattle farms" equipped with  modern equipment. The first such farms have already appeared, and it  is confident that their number will increase significantly next year.   In 2021, the equipment leasing program for the development of cattle  breeding will continue. last 5-6 years with significant subsidies  from the state of interest rates on attracted loans The Minister  recalled that in 2020, due to the epidemic, the government has  undertaken to finance interest rates by 100%.  Another area of  assistance will be the processing of agricultural products. This  project is divided into two parts - subsidizing interest rates for  the purchase of raw materials, and the acquisition of equipment  processing enterprises on lease for a period for 8 years.
