Service sector of Armenia reduced volumes by 11.7% in 9 months of  2020

ArmInfo.  In Armenia, the service sector in January-July 2020 reduced volumes by 11.7% per annum - to 1.2 trillion drams ($ 2.6 billion) against 15.5% growth a  year earlier. According to the data of the Statistical Committee of  the Republic of Armenia, in September alone, the volume of services  provided increased by 4.1%, amounting to 151.9 billion drams ($ 312.1  million).

During the reporting period, only the information and communications  sector and the financial sector managed to maintain positive  dynamics, where the volume of services provided increased by 7.6%  (against an increase of 8% a year earlier) and 7.4% (against an  increase of 18.3% in 2019) respectively.

As for the remaining sectors, the volume of revenue in y-o-y terms  from growth turned the vector towards a decline, in particular  catering and organization of accommodation for tourists - from a  29.6% growth to a 48.1% decline, culture, entertainment and  recreation - from 23.8% growth to 9% decline, education - from 4.9%  growth to 11.5% decline, healthcare - from 14.1% growth to 4.6% -  decline, real estate - from 4.6% growth to 11.9% decline, transport -  from 8.1% growth to 32.6% decline, administrative and support  activities - from 11.2 % growth by 41.3% decline, professional,  scientific and technical activities - from 4.4% growth to 8% decline.

According to the statistics, the financial sector is the leader in  terms of the volume of services provided - 344.2 billion drams (27.2%  of the total). The second place in terms of services is occupied by  culture, entertainment and recreation - 273.4 billion drams (21.6% of  the total). The third place is taken by the field of information and  communication - 211.8 billion drams (16.7%), with the main load  falling on the telecommunications segment. The fourth place is taken  by the transport sector - 117.2 billion drams (9.3%).  The five  leaders in terms of the volume of services provided are closed by the  catering and tourism sectors - 73.5 billion drams (5.8%).

The average settlement rate of AMD to USD was in September 2020 AMD  486.69 / $ 1, and in January- September - AMD 484.20 / $ 1, against  AMD 476.23 / $ 1 in September 2019 and AMD 481.52/$1 in  January-September 2019.
