ArmInfo. In the consumer market of Armenia in January- November 2020, inflation was recorded at 0.3%, against deflationary 0.5% in the same period of 2019. This was provoked by an increase in tariffs for services by 1.4%, a rise in prices for non-food products by 1%, while prices for food products (including alcohol and cigarettes) fell by 0.9%. According to the Statistical Committee of the Republic of Armenia, in y-o-y terms (compared to January-November 2019), the consumer market recorded inflation of 1% (against inflationary 1.5% a year ago), which was facilitated by the same rise in prices of food and non-food products by 0.8% and an increase in tariffs for services by 1.3%. The average monthly rise in prices on the consumer market amounted to 0.03% in January- November 2020, against a 0.05% decline a year earlier.
In November 2020 to November 2019, consumer prices increased by 1.6% due to the rise in prices for food and non-food products by 1.7% and 1%, respectively, and an increase in tariffs for services by 1.5%. In November 2020 alone, inflation of 1.3% was recorded due to a rise in prices for food products by 2.6% and non-food products by 0.6%, and an increase in tariffs for services by 0.1%. In Yerevan, consumer prices increased by 1.3% in November 2020, against an increase of 1.1% a year earlier. In November 2020, a 1.3% rise in consumer prices was accompanied by a 1.6% devaluation of the dram against the dollar, and in January-November against the background of 0.3% inflation, a 4.5% devaluation of the dram against the dollar was observed (against a deflation of 0, 5% and AMD revaluation by 1.6% a year earlier). The calculated exchange rate of the dram to the dollar in November 2020 averaged 499.6 AMD / $ 1, exceeding the level of a year ago by 4.7% (477.1 AMD / $ 1).
It should be noted that inflation of 1.1% was recorded in the consumer market of Armenia in November 2019, due to the rise in prices for food products by 2.3%, non-food products - by 0.2%, while the tariffs for services remained unchanged. In January-November 2019, a 0.5% deflation was caused by a decrease in the price of food products by 2.4%, with a rise in prices for non-food products by 1.4% and an increase in tariffs for services by 0.9%. The average monthly decline in consumer prices in January-November 2019 amounted to 0.05%, against an increase of 0.03% a year earlier. In January-November 2019, compared to January-November 2018, the consumer price index was 101.5%, incl. food - 102.3%, non-food - 101.5% and tariffs for services - 100.5%, and in November 2019 compared to November 2018, the consumer price index was 101% and, accordingly, food and non-food products and tariffs for services - 100 , 9%, 101% and 101.2%.
