ArmInfo. The plan for the development of the EAEU technical regulations includes a new document, which concerns nicotine-containing products, the developer of which will be the Republic of Armenia. On December 7, during a briefing, Assistant to the Chairman of the Board of the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC) Iya Malkina announced.
She recalled that in February 2020, the Council of the Commission added a single list of products for which mandatory requirements are established by the paragraph of nicotine fillers for nicotine delivery systems, including nicotine-free ones. "Currently, we do not have mandatory requirements for such products both within the Union and within the national legislations of the Union member states," Malkina said.
As explained by the Assistant to the Chairman of the EEC Board, these products differ from traditional smoking tobacco products in that they are consumed by inhalation of vapor, which is formed not as a result of smoldering or burning, as in ordinary cigarettes, but as a result of heating the tobacco mixture or nicotine-containing or nicotine-free liquid. As a result of the use of this product, according to her, quite toxic substances are released, in particular formaldehyde and others. "The adoption of the regulations will take about 2 years and involves public discussions, which, we hope, will arouse interest not only among manufacturers, but also among citizens of our countries," she concluded.
