ArmInfo.Property and personal relations related to the creation, protection and use of inventions will be settled in Armenia.
The Parliamentary Commission on Economic Affairs at a meeting on January 13 issued a positive opinion on amendments to the law "On licensing" and in a package of 7 laws. According to Deputy Minister of Economy of the Republic of Armenia Varos Simonyan, the package takes into account the obligations assumed by Armenia in international agreements. It, in particular, is brought into compliance with the Paris Convention for the Protection of Industrial Property, the World Intellectual Property Organization, the Eurasian Patent Convention, and an agreement on trade aspects of intellectual property rights. Issues related to registration, protection and use of inventions will be dealt with by an authorized state body, under which the Appeals Board will operate. A patent for an invention will be issued to organizations, individuals and individual entrepreneurs. At the same time, the patent will be both short-term (for 10 years) and long-term (for 20 years). For their registration on an international scale, an international application will be required, which is submitted to the state authority. If the ratified international treaties of the Republic of Armenia contradict the norms of this Law, the norms of the international treaties shall apply. Rights to an invention in the territory of the Republic of Armenia are acquired and protected by a patent issued in the manner prescribed by law. The rights arising from the Eurasian patent are recognized and protected on the territory of the Republic of Armenia in accordance with the Eurasian Patent Convention. Legal protection of inventions in the Republic of Armenia is carried out on the basis of documents of title issued in accordance with this law, as well as on the basis of a Eurasian patent.
