ArmInfo.There is an increase in prices for basic necessities in Armenia. Chairman of the "Consumers' Consulting Center" NGO Karen Chilingaryan on January 14, at a meeting with journalists, stated.
The expert noted that even before the New Year prices for sunflower oil and flour increased by 30-40%. The prices for bread and sugar have also increased, which is due to the rise in prices for these products in Russia, from where they come to Armenia. Due to the devaluation of the national currency, the dram, an increase in prices for citrus fruits was recorded. At the same time, as Chilingaryan continued, against the background of rising prices for flour, economic entities in order to keep the price of bread (as far as possible) reduced its weight by about 30 g.
As the expert noted, as for the ban on the import of goods from Turkey, Russian, Chinese or Iranian goods will mainly replace them.
"Household chemicals were mainly imported from Turkey, and now - from Kazakhstan, Ukraine and Russia. There is no rise in prices yet, but this cannot be ruled out," he concluded.
