ArmInfo.2021 should be the year of recovery of the economic ambitions of the Armenian government. RA Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan announced on January 15 at a meeting dedicated to macroeconomic indicators for 2022.
As the government's press service reports, according to him 2020 turned out to be extremely problematic not only in terms of war, but also because of the pandemic of a new type of coronavirus. "It is necessary to clearly state that 2021 will be the year of the restoration of our economic ambitions. We must decide on actions that will make it possible to overcome the difficulties that we faced in 2020," Nikol Pashinyan said.
The head of government stated that at present there are numerous challenges, but there are also numerous opportunities. "Of course, first of all, we must focus on resolving humanitarian issues, and on the other hand, we will fix the trilateral statement signed on January 11 in Moscow, the possible implementation of which will create new economic opportunities for Armenia. We aim at the full use of these opportunities," said Prime Minister, adding that it should be not only about the restoration of economic ambitions, but also about setting higher indicators.
RA Finance Minister Atom Janjughazyan presented the main macroeconomic forecasts for 2022. He noted that due to the impact of the coronavirus and the war in Artsakh, it is advisable to start discussing the budget process earlier. In particular, during the meeting, the draft state budget for 2022, the development of a medium-term spending program for 2022-2024, forecasts for economic growth rates, a number of issues of fiscal policy, current and capital expenditures were discussed.
The Prime Minister noted that the quality of programs implemented in 2021 will have an impact in 2022, and it is necessary to be consistent in ensuring the high efficiency of the programs.
